Last Tuesday, the Lexington Draper James store hosted a Shop & Sip for HerKentucky readers. It was such a special event for me -- so many friends and relatives came out to shop, enjoy sweet tea, rosé, and mini-bundt cakes, and, most importantly, raise money for one of my very favorite causes, Dress for Success. Dress for Success helps provide underprivileged women with the tools for economic and professional empowerment. I've been fortunate to work with the Louisville affiliate this year, and it is truly amazing to see the ways in which the clients' entire demeanor changes as they try on professional attire. I mean, who doesn't feel better in a fabulous new outfit?
Draper James pineapple print dress, white Tulip Shirtdress, and white lace bell sleeve top, all on sale!
It was such a fun event! The Dress for Success Lexington Board of Directors came out to shop, and a college friend of mine even brought his kids by! I was overwhelmed by how well the event turned out (we raised over $400 for DFS!!) and how absolutely lovely the evening was!
Gingham floral dress (on sale!)
Of course, I've loved Draper James since the very moment I saw a newspaper article that said Reese Witherspoon was launching a lifestyle brand, but I'm even more excited about the brand lately. I love that they've expanded their sizing to be more inclusive, that they're experimenting with pop-up kids' collections, and that they listened to customer feedback to drop the price point just a bit. I also love the ponte fabric in several of their tees and dresses, like the one I wore to the event!
Draper James x ELOQUII T-shirt (on sale for $32!)
I can't thank the Draper James Lexington team enough for hosting us! They were so gracious and friendly, and were so kind to provide the donation opportunity! Don't forget that they have a great selection of Draper James products in-store, so if any of these pieces are sold-out online, give them a shout at 859-618-6785.

I especially love the Seersucker! These will be so perfect for every spring event, from Easter services to races at Keeneland or Churchill Downs to date nights! (Fun Fact: The Love Circle Dress is named for the road that runs around Love Park near Vanderbilt's campus, near Draper James Founder Reese Witherspoon's hometown, Nashville!)

Y'all. Draper James just dropped their Valentine's Day collection. It is so adorable that I kinda want one of everything, but I've picked a few of my favorites to share with you. (Click here to save $20 at Draper James!)
I *may* have already ordered this striped tee. It's just cute enough without being cloying or "holiday-ish."
This flutter sleeve tee is cute enough to wear year-round.
This "Love You More" tee is so sweet!
And it's legit all I can do to not order EVERY SINGLE THING that has "Bless Your Heart" written on it; anybody who knows me knows that I use that particular phrase daily. DJ has a wallet, a tote, and a cosmetic bag with that saying, and I love them all.
Some of these pieces are still in pre-order, but it looks like they'll all ship in time for Valentine's Day. Happy Shopping, and don't forget to click here to get $20 off your DJ order!
Draper James Hold Your Horses Capsule Collection is Back!
Just a little heads up, y'all! The Draper James "Hold Your Horses" Capsule Collection is back in stock! I know y'all loved these items at Derby time, and the collection is back and improved for Fall Keeneland/ Breeders' Cup/ November Churchill Downs season!
This tote is on my must-have list, and the tee gets so many compliments every time I wear it! The hat would be soooo perfect for the little autumn getaway I'm dreaming of lately!

Gameday Tee and the Stadium that Will Always be Known as Commonwealth
My favorite new gameday tee!
Hey y'all! It's the first home game at, uh, Kroger Field. It's going to take a little minute to get used to calling it that. Anyway, I wish I were in Lexington for this UK game, because not only is it the first game at the newly-renamed stadium, but the Cats are playing my parents' alma mater, EKU.
The University will also be saluting one of my very favorite UK alums, garden designer Jon Carloftis, today! Jon is such a cool, creative, and wonderful Kentuckian, and I love this story of how he utilized his Kentucky degree to craft a dream career.
I can't make today's game, but I am rocking a fun game day tee from Draper James! I love this top because I can cheer for both of the teams I love -- the 'Cats and the Crimson Tide -- without a costume change! (Don't forget to click here for $20 off your Draper James order!)
Who are y'all rooting for today?
Bourbon and Coke Slushes for Tailgating
Football season is finally here, y'all! Enjoy these bourbon and Coke slushies for tailgating!
Football season is finally here, y'all! Bob and I may have started the countdown to football sometime in June. And we may have added the Kentucky game and the Alabama game to our iPhone calendars back in July. And Bob may have gotten some fancy tv speakers that I don't fully understand in anticipation of the football season. Let's just say that we're really looking forward to Saturday's games!

With the 'Cats in Hattiesburg and a full Saturday of great games, it's the perfect time to kick off the long weekend with a frozen bourbon and coke slushie. These Tervis Tumblers from Draper James are the perfect way to keep your drink cold and reflect your school spirit. (Click here for $20 off your online Draper James order!)
These slushies are fun because you can use any soft drink you like, and even omit the whiskey for kids or anyone who doesn't care to imbibe.
For each slushie, use two cups of ice, a cup of Coke, and 2-3 ounces of bourbon. Add ice to the blender and crush until smooth. Add bourbon and pulse; add coke and pulse again. I used Maker's Mark in my test recipe, but I also like the idea of adding a lower proof bourbon (like Basil Hayden or Old Forester 86 proof) to keep these drinks a little less potent. I added a splash of bitters to the Maker's and Ale-8 slushie, like they do at Star Hill Provisions at Maker's Mark. It really adds an interesting dimension to the drink!
Cheers, y'all. How are you celebrating the return of football season?
Elizabeth Mayhew at the Kentucky Center!
I'm so excited for tomorrow night's Kentucky to the World talk at the Kentucky Center for the Arts! The speaker is style expert and Draper James brand editor Elizabeth Mayhew. Elizabeth is a Today Show contributor, a Washington Post columnist, and a design author. She's also a Kentucky native and so, so lovely to work with! I recently had the chance to meet Elizabeth at the Lexington Draper James store, and she is just so gracious and lovely and authentic! I can't wait to attend this event and hear how Elizabeth's Kentucky roots helped her succeed on a national level! I hope to see y'all there!
