How HerKentucky Partners Are Reopening

After two crazy months of business closures, Kentucky stores and salons are starting to slowly and cautiously open their doors to customers. I thought I’d share with y’all how the HerKentucky Partners — the businesses I work with to promote some of the very finest products and services in the Bluegrass State — are adapting to safely serve their customers.
Stoneware & Co
Spas & Salons
Open now! Staff will be wearing masks and gloves; all areas will be sanitized before and after each guest. Guests are asked to sanitize hands before service and maintain six feet distance. Please reschedule appointment if exhibiting any cold or flu symptoms.
Phone lines open now! Salon opens May 27th for limited hair and nail services. A second-phase opening is forthcoming for additional hair and nail services, along with spa, massage and wax services. Blow-dry services will not be offered. Salon employees and guests are asked to wear masks, and guests are asked to limit items brought into the salon and practice six feet distancing. Guests exhibiting a fever will not be permitted to enter.

Now open! Staff members will be wearing masks, cleaning all surfaces hourly, and sanitizing all shoes and garments after every try-on. Guests are required to use hand sanitizers; masks are highly recommended. Contactless checkout service, curbside delivery and in-Lexington home delivery are available.

I recently visited the very cutest shop in Lexington!
Henry Dry Goods is so adorable, y’all! It’s on Jefferson Street, among the most lovely little nook of stores and restaurants. Lexington is really having a moment for shopping and dining! I swear I do more shopping there than I do in Louisville these days, and I LOVE that the area around Transylvania — my alma mater — has gotten so much more fun and trendy!
I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with Henry founder and CEO, Sherri Henry Wolf, and her partner Dianne Oakes at their shop, and I was enchanted in every way. The decor is so beautiful, and the Henry textiles — pillows and bags at the intersection of preppy and edgy — are simply gorgeous.
As I talked to Sherri and Dianne, the most beautiful theme of second chances kept popping up. Sherri told me how she lost her first company as a consequence of a divorce. Dianne introduced me to this sweet girl, who was one of the dogs displaced by Superstorm Sandy. It was just an amazing vibe of beauty and grace and strength. I’d entered their loft space a fan of their handbags; I left a true believer!
And we haven’t even talked about the monograms yet! Y’all know I love a good monogram, and Henry features some of the most lovely monogram styles I’ve seen in ages!

In case I wasn’t in love enough, Henry has a gorgeous line of UK gear! Sherri collaborated with the University of Kentucky to reimagine the iconic UK Plaid for some gorgeous pieces, and they also carry clear, stadium-friendly crossbody bags! Oh, and Mrs. Calipari has one of those plaid crossbody bags! Is there any better endorsement than that?
I simply fell in love with my Ben Game Day Tote. This would be such a fun bag to pack for the SEC tournament. I’ve already used it as a purse and a work bag; it’s an amazing piece for Wildcat fanatics like me!

I was probably the last blogger in America to discover Kendra Scott jewelry. I’d clung so long to my “only pearls” jewelry philosophy. Then, this summer, my local Kendra Scott store — Oxmoor Mall here in Louisville — reached out to see if I’d like to host a shopping party. To be more precise, Allie Martin, Community Engagement Manager at Kendra Scott Louisville, podcaster, and general force of nature, reached out to me. I’m not kidding, y’all, I’m a multitasker, but Allie is everywhere doing everything and promoting the Kendra brand. I was intrigued to hear why this line of jewelry was so great.
I learned that Kendra Scott founded her jewelry line in her Austin home and transformed it into a billion dollar private company based on the values of Fashion, Family, and Philanthropy. They had me at female entrepreneur who gives back to the community. The fact that the jewelry is fun, fashion-forward, and at a great price point is just the icing on the cake.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I randomly had the opportunity to meet Kendra Scott herself last night. She and several people from her corporate office were visiting their Lexington store at the Summit at Fritz Farm. I was hosting a shopping event at Draper James, and the Kendra Scott folks came in to look around. She was so cute, y’all — she was sipping a mint julep because she’d never tried bourbon before and felt like she ought to try it in Kentucky. I asked for a photo op like a total fangirl, and she was so lovely and gracious about it!
Needless to say, I’m pretty excited to partner with the Lexington Kendra Scott store for a Kendra Gives Back charity shopping event next Wednesday, October 10th, from 5-8 p.m. Twenty percent of the night’s proceeds will benefit Dress for Success Lexington, which provides clothing, interview skills, financial management information, and other tools for economic empowerment to underprivileged women in the Lexington area. Y’all know that I prioritize giving volunteer hours and donations to Dress for Success both personally and through HerKentucky’s social media platforms. It’s so amazing to watch the clients gain confidence and courage as they embark upon a new career. It’s truly the meaning of empowerment — giving these ladies the tools they need to carve their own path. So many of us take our educations, opportunities, and privileges for granted, and I can’t recommend volunteering with an organization like DFS highly enough.
