How to Shop the Lilly Pulitzer Fall 2020 Online Sale
Tried & true shopping tips for the Lilly Pulitzer online sale.
(This post contains affiliate links; I may receive a very small commission per purchase at no cost to you.)
Did you hear that the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale starts Monday, September 14th? I know a lot of y’all, like me, enjoy stocking up on sundresses, shorts, and lots of Lilly goodness during this event. Over the years, I've developed a few pro tips to help you navigate it quickly and efficiently.
1. Log on early... and prepare to wait. Have a browser window open to lillypulitzer.com by 7 am, and be prepared to be placed in a long online queue once the sale goes live around 8!
2. Know what you want to shop. I usually formulate a list of the searches I'm going to conduct, based on my tried and true favorite styles. I usually search for the Skipper Popover, the Elsa Top, the Sophie Dress (my mom's favorite style!) and for "maxi", for the landing page for maxi & midi dresses.
3. Place a couple of smaller orders rather than one large haul. This will ensure that you don't "lose" as many items in your cart to faster shoppers.
4. Run a filter for your size. See what's available to fit you. After I look for myself, I run quick searches for my mom's sizes and my little nieces. (We take Lilly pretty seriously in my family!) I find this helps me discover styles I’ve maybe overlooked in the past — like my new favorite, the Kaia tunic!
Happy Shopping, y’all! Let me know if you score anything good!!

Y'all, the Draper James summer sale is the best LDW sale I've seen (and trust me, I've looked at them all!) There are so many pieces that I've worn time and again, and the prices are insane -- up to 75% off! This bell-sleeved dress has been my go-to all summer because it's just so flattering and easy to wear; it's cut to $40, and I'm thinking of snagging it in navy as well! Here are a few more favorites for you!
Tees
This is a great time to stock up on DJ tees and tops. The striped tops are great beyond Labor Day and the tees are $10! The bell sleeved stripe tee has been a staple in my wardrobe all summer -- it's perfect for easy elegance -- and the What Would Dolly Do tee has gotten more compliments than possibly any other article of clothing I own.
Shoes and Boots
I'm pretty certain that I would wear Jack Rogers sandals every day if I could. I love these logo Jacks -- the Howdy Y'all and the Southern Belle are both adorable! The Soludos espadrilles and Old Gringo boots are great deals, too!
Magnolia Dress
Magnolia dress $50; Elizabeth's dress is sold out. (this photo is an iPhone snap!)
This dress is perfection, y'all. I wore it to the track and to a garden party and I've never felt more Southern in my life. The Ponte fabric is ridiculously flattering, and the print is fabulous. It's down to $50. Trust me, you'll be glad it's in your closet next spring!
Let me know if you score anything good from the DJ Lucky You sale! It runs through tomorrow, September 4th.
The HerKentucky Guide to the Hunter for Target Capsule Collection
How to score the best pieces on an iconic capsule collaboration

I love my Hunter boots for a fun way to stay stylish, warm, and dry in bad weather. I love the cool story that Hunter Wellington boots were developed to keep British troops dry in the trenches of World War I. And I love the quality of these products. I'm fully prepared to love the Hunter for Target Capsule Collection. I love the fact that the collection is so inclusive -- from toddlers to adults to plus size, with a lot of unisex items!, and I love that all pieces are under $80, with most under $40! I was so excited when I saw my local Target getting ready for tomorrow's launch.
I thought I'd share a few of my favorite pieces from the collection, which drops sometime tonight or tomorrow morning. And, as a veteran of the Lilly Pulitzer for Target madness, I thought I'd share a few tips for scoring the pieces you love!
Tips for shopping online and in-store
FIrst of all, make sure you have a Target.com account, and make sure to click the "heart" button for the pieces you like when you shop ahead of time; this allows you to quickly convert loves to purchases. Check around midnight EDT tonight, sometime overnight, and first thing in the morning. We have no idea when it'll actually go live. Second, head out to Target first thing in the morning if you don't mind a line. Consult Target.com to make sure you know what time your store opens, and plan to be there on airport hours (i.e., if your local airport only requires that you be there one hour ahead of time, I suggest doing the same for your Target...) Third, be prepared to check back in subsequent days. There will be returns and reshuffles. Finally, if you don't find what you want, PLEASE do not pay the speculators on eBay. Those folks ruin it for everyone!
My favorite pieces form the collaboration
The standout pieces for me are waterproof ankle boots in pink and yellow. I LOVE these, and the price point is fantastic. What a fun pop of color for spring showers!
I also adore these two-toned ankle boots. The olive and orange combo is so fun and I think I'm going to need these navy and red!
And how cute are these unisex packable rain jackets? The yellow and the red are adorable, and at $40, they're perfect to throw in the car, a work bag, or anywhere you might hit bad weather.
I'm pretty sure my little niece is going to need this toddler packable rain jacket and the matching rash guard.
While her older sister is going to need this striped performance skirt and these athletic shorts.
And there are inexpensive rash guards for the entire family -- toddlers, kids, women's, women's plus, and men's -- to keep everyone safe from harsh sunlight.
Let me know your Hunter for Target picks and if you find anything fun!

L.L. Bean Warranty Changes
The End of the Preppy World as we Know It?
(This post contains affiliate links. I may receive a small per-click commission on some product links at no additional cost to you! Thank you for supporting HerKentucky.com!)
It's no secret that I love L.L. Bean. In fact, if y'all have followed along with this blog over the years, you've probably heard me sing the praises of L.L. Bean's famous Boat & Tote Bags and Bean Boots. I also really love their pajamas and house shoes. And their sweaters last forever... Well, you get the idea.
When your BFF is super-glam and your style is more low-key, this is how presents are mailed....
L.L. Bean products do seem to last forever. In fact, the company's eponymous founder is known for saying in the first L.L. Bean circular that "No sale is really complete until the product is worn out, and the customer is satisfied. We will thank anyone to return goods that are not perfectly satisfactory...Above all things we wish to avoid having a dissatisfied customer." That was in 1912. Those of us who love L.L. Bean have, over the past 106 years, grown accustomed to the company's lifetime replacement policy. Then, Friday morning, this email arrived.
There's always one or two jerks who have to ruin everything, right? I mean, WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE BUYING STUFF AT YARD SALES AND CLAIMING A WARRANTY RETURN? I've bought some vintage Bean sweaters on eBay, but I buy them to wear. Because, again, Bean sweaters last forever. And, because their quality doesn't end because the original owners were tired of them. And, because the original marketing statement made by Mr. Bean was built on the idea that customers were honest and not jerks.
eBay L.L. Bean finds.
For me, the rule of returns is "does the reason for the return constitute my misuse/overuse or a manufacturer flaw?" I've worn my sweater fleece pullover at least twice a week for two years, so it's no wonder that the hem of the cuff is starting to fray. That needs a few stitches, not a replacement. And I live in my slippers -- of course they're looking a little rough on their third winter. Those are on me, not the company. On the other hand, when I didn't care for the way a monogram showed up on a pair of pajamas, I did return them for a monogram in a different thread. I actually felt guilty doing this, as it was custom monogrammed, but it was a pair of new and unworn pajamas. I guess I'm the opposite of this guy.
I love this sweater fleece. After 2 years, the hem is a little frayed; I plan to mend it!
How about y'all? What do you think is an "appropriate reason" to return a product?
Shop my L.L. Bean favorites below. I promise you probably won't have to send them back, anyway!
Draper James Valentine's Day Collection
Swoonworthy Valentine's Day styles from Draper James.

Y'all. Draper James just dropped their Valentine's Day collection. It is so adorable that I kinda want one of everything, but I've picked a few of my favorites to share with you. (Click here to save $20 at Draper James!)
I *may* have already ordered this striped tee. It's just cute enough without being cloying or "holiday-ish."
This flutter sleeve tee is cute enough to wear year-round.
This "Love You More" tee is so sweet!
And it's legit all I can do to not order EVERY SINGLE THING that has "Bless Your Heart" written on it; anybody who knows me knows that I use that particular phrase daily. DJ has a wallet, a tote, and a cosmetic bag with that saying, and I love them all.
Some of these pieces are still in pre-order, but it looks like they'll all ship in time for Valentine's Day. Happy Shopping, and don't forget to click here to get $20 off your DJ order!
